Może, podobnie jak autorowi książki, nie było jej dane stanąć pośród ruin stolicy...
The main character is beautiful, rich, funny and incredibely iritating Mrs Hanka Renowicka, a wife of polish diplomat and queen of high society. Her life is divide between balls, treats, parities, romance affairs... The background is charming, cheerful Warsaw just before The II World War. Completely unaware of the danger.
Just for a moment I could look at world which will never come back.
Although the book was light and funny I can't stop thinking of what could happen with Mrs Hanka after september of 1939? Did she saw her beloved, carefree Warsaw ruined? Or maybe she didn't live this moment, just like autor of the book?
